Accompanying Jesse Albrecht and Sean Chandler’s exhibition The Un-homecoming of Uncle Dirty and Jimmy Cardell, the documentary film I’d Rather be Powwowing will play in the M.J. Murdock Gallery from 5 – 7:30 PM.Filmed in 1983 and produced by George Horse Capture, this film features Al Chandler, Sean Chandler’s father. Chandler, a member of the Gros Ventre (A’aninin) nation in Montana works in the economic mainstream while maintaining traditional ties by attending powwows.
The Un-homecoming of Uncle Dirty and Jimmy Cardel exhibition is on view through July 3, 2022.
